Before Your Visit
Welcome to Castello di Roppolo
The castle is a privately owned residence, and its rooms hold a collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture and antique arms gathered over centuries. A few simple rules allow us to keep these works safe and to give every visitor the same quality of experience. Thank you for your cooperation.
Access and Admission
All visits to the castle are guided. Access without a guide is not permitted, for the safety of visitors and of the collections.Anyone wishing to lead a visit must hold an official castle guide badge. Badges are issued only in connection with an advance group reservation.Certain programmes and events require a separate ticket or reservation, either in addition to or instead of standard admission. We cannot guarantee that every room will be open at all times. Rooms may close for conservation work, private events or operational reasons.
Caring for the Collection
The works on display are here to be studied, admired and enjoyed. To keep them safe, we ask you not to touch the artworks, their frames, bases, or any fitting used to protect them.Only pencils may be used for sketching or note-taking. Pens, markers and paint are not permitted in the exhibition rooms. Please keep a safe distance from displayed objects and follow your guide's instructions when moving between rooms.
Photography
Photography and video for personal use are welcome throughout the castle. The use of flash and tripods is not permitted, either inside or outside the building. Flash damages pigments and varnishes over time, and tripods obstruct the movement of other visitors in our historic rooms.Images taken during your visit may not be sold or used for commercial purposes. Professional photographers, film crews and commercial shoots require a dedicated booking: please write to contact@castellodiroppolo.com at least one week in advance.
Bags and Personal Items
For security reasons, large bags and backpacks may not be taken into the castle. A secure storage space is available at the boutique, where you can leave them free of charge for the duration of your visit.Umbrellas, walking poles and bulky items should also be left at the boutique.
Accessibility
We aim to welcome every visitor.Almost all rooms and installations are accessible by wheelchair, and a lift serves both the first and second floors. The underground areas, including the wine cellars, are not accessible. Please note that there are steps between the car park and the castle entrance.Visitors holding a 100% disability certificate are admitted free of charge, together with one accompanying person. If you would like a wheelchair, walking stick, folding stool or baby carrier to be made available, please let us know at contact@castellodiroppolo.com before your visit and we will arrange it.
Children and Pets
Children are welcome and must remain with an accompanying adult at all times.Small dogs may join the visit provided they are carried in your arms throughout. Larger dogs can wait at boutique level, where our staff will look after them and provide water if needed, as long as they are calm around people.
Food, Drink and Smoking
Food and drink may not be consumed in the exhibition rooms. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is not permitted anywhere inside the castle.
In Case of Difficulty
If anything is unclear during your visit, or if you need assistance, please speak to your guide or to the staff at the boutique. We would rather help you on the spot than have you leave with a question unanswered.
We look forward to welcoming you to Castello di Roppolo, where a thousand years of history and art come alive to reveal new ideas and connections across cultures.
